CANbus Measurement without sending receive signal

Connecting to an existing CAN bus system in order to measure or monitor communication - but staying neutral and nonreactive in any respect!

A guarantee for absolute transparency of the CAN interface that leaves the bus completely unaffected - that's what is sometimes required by customers for certain applications. No problem for imc BUSDAQ and devices of the imc CRONOS series. The following technical paper explaines, what is behind that issue - mainly three aspects:

  • imc device is switched off and may not affect the bus
  • imc device has to silently monitor bus traffic without being detected for any bus activity, not even while simply receiving
    data
  • galvanical isolation of the CAN interface prevents any loading or electrical degradation of the bus and ensures signal integrity

Strain gauge Acquisition

Strain gage connector

Once a test object is gauged, the connection of a data acquisition system to the strain gauges is a basic task. However, this task can only be performed once the test object is available, and the testing can only proceed once the connections and calibration of the inputs are verified. The connection, using conventional screw terminals, provides a temporary connection that can be easily removed, but this still takes time to insure performance and the correct connectivity.

The imc systems, in conjunction with the optional Termination Boxes from imc Partner A-TECH, can reduce the time needed for connection of each channel dramatically.
